Senior Director of Operations - Teens

The Senior Director of Operations (Teen Program) is responsible for the oversight and success of teen-focused programs and outreach initiatives. This position requires compliance with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire (BGCSE), Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Sioux Falls School District Community Learning Centers and state regulatory requirements while fostering program development, managing staff, increasing enrollment, tracking data, maintaining safety standards, and cultivating positive relationships with teens, families and the community. The Senior Director of Operations – Teen Program will provide direct leadership to Connection Coordinators and indirect leadership to Site Coordinators and Youth Development Specialist while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure that each teen program is operating in compliance with state, federal and BGCA regulations and requirements and internal policies.
  • Implement and communicate policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Directly manage the leadership teams within the teen programs, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluation.
  • Work closely with the programming department on program planning, development, implementation, and assessment to ensure quality and effectiveness.
  • Oversee and lead juvenile diversion efforts, including programming, staffing, and partnerships with community and justice agencies.
  • Partner with departmental leaders across the organization to ensure organizational strategies are consistently applied and aligned throughout all areas of operation.
  • Advocate for teen programs and youth development initiatives by building relationships with community stakeholders, participating in relevant coalitions, and representing the organization’s mission at local and regional events.
  • Grow program enrollment through effective recruitment, outreach, and community partnerships.
  • Ensure adequate staffing at each site and that the state required staff to youth ratios are maintained at 1:20 ratio.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and communication with youth, parents, schools, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee facility safety procedures, including checklists, internal/external safety assessments, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Implement behavioral policies and ensure compliance with disciplinary procedures as per BGCSE and BGCA guidelines.
  • Manage financial aspects, including budget monitoring, grant compliance and data tracking for reporting purposes.
  • Supervise transportation and field trip schedules, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and safety policies.
  • Facilitate internal meetings, including Operations, Safety Committees, and staff training sessions.
  • Oversee supply procurement and inventory management for program needs.
  • Represent BGCSE in community engagements, public appearances, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Address and resolve challenges related to staffing, youth behavior, parent concerns and operational issues.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer and senior leadership.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in education, youth development, non-profit management, social work or human services, business administration, or another related field.  
  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing youth programs, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, employee management and program development. 
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of youth development principles and program evaluation methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in tracking data, budget monitoring, and reporting.  
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Constant hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination.
  • Intermittent speaking, standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and squatting.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Frequent lifting of objects under 20 pounds, and occasional lifting of items up to 75 pounds.
  • Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to extreme temperatures in summer and winter.
