SUMMARY:   The Assistant Golf Course Manager assists the Golf Course Manager at the Brandon Municipal Golf Course with duties to include but not limited to: Training and supervising part time staff, customer satisfaction, tournament and league administration, marketing and promotions, purchasing equipment and supplies, managing inventory, meeting and developing the annual budget, player development programing including lessons and junior programs and any other duties as assigned to ensure a successful operation at the Brandon Municipal Golf Course.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Golf Course Operations
    • Daily operations of the golf course, pro shop, cart rentals and facilities
    • Assist with leagues and tournaments, to include scheduling, recording handicaps and supervising play
    • Provide and promote youth interest in golf to include youth instruction, leagues and tournaments
    • Educate, interpret and enforce policies, rules and regulations of the golf course
    • Assist with purchase and inventory levels in pro shop; maintain inventory of equipment and supplies
    • Assure security of people, equipment and facilities at the golf course
  1. Finance and Administration
    • Assist with balancing and recording daily cash receipts from pro shop sales; make bank deposits
    • Assist with maintaining records and files relating to annual pass holders, course activities, etc.
    • Assist with preparing annual reports; maintain statistics of expenditures and revenues
    • Assist in preparing annual budget for approval; administer budget in fiscally responsible manner
  1. Public Relations
    • Assist with advertising campaigns to increase the use and profitability of the course
    • Establish positive and effective working relationships with customers, general public and staff
    • Assist Golf Course Manager in working with various golf associations, leagues, tournaments, teams; work with tournament directors in the organization of individual events
  2. Supervision
    • Oversee pro shop staff, cart attendants and marshals to assure high levels of service
    • Assist with Planning and organizing workloads; delegate staff assignments; assure safety
    • Assist in maintaining harmony among management and staff; resolve any grievances that may arise

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform duties of Golf Course Manager in his/her absence
  • Perform other duties, projects and tasks as may be assigned by the Golf Course Manager
  • Perform duties of other department personnel when needed

 PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Work full-time with substantial overtime when course is open, plus sufficient time before and after the season to assure successful operations
  • Salary is paid on an hourly basis + compensation time

 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in the golf industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of golf industry standards and practices, as well as golf course operations
  • Working knowledge of golf course management software, Lightspeed Golf, Golf Genius, GHIN, Word, Excel, Publisher and outlook, will train the right candidate but prior knowledge of this software is preferred
  • Skilled in playing golf, teaching golf, and giving lessons
  • Effective at giving direction and support to staff members
  • Able to communicate frequently and effectively with a wide variety of people
  • Able to provide excellent customer service and develop good rapport with members and customers
  • Able to effectively organize, plan and implement activities, events and tournaments
  • Able to maintain composure under difficult situations
  • Able to work independently and with others to establish and achieve objectives

 Physical Capabilities:

  • Position requires a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, ranging from sedentary to very active
  • Extended periods outside, playing golf, walking the course, carrying equipment, etc.
  • Lift and carry product; work with inventory in pro shop, lounge and community room
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Operate normal office equipment: telephone, copier, fax machine, PC

 Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license; safe driving record
